When it’s time for your engagement portraits, the last thing you might think to bring is your Nerf blasters and bubble gun. But for this awesome couple, that’s just the beginning. Our session included a ton of fun props like bubble blasters, rad shoes, a KFC bucket (reminiscent of their first date), and two of the cutest dogs on this side of the galaxy. I love it when soon-to-be-wed couples show their silly side, and these two live up to our celebration of couples who are nerdy-at-heart! Which basically means I want them to be my new best friends.
We spent the morning near downtown Los Angeles at the Brewery, capturing an urban industrial look for the couple. The complex started its life as a Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery and has been transformed into what LA Weekly calls “the world’s largest artist-in-residence community.” As an art colony, creativity is in the air at this location. We found ourselves exploring rusty stairwells and colorful storage containers, as well as staging a Nerf fight in front of the dramatic Paradox Iron building on the center of campus. In my book, these two are made of 100% awesome!
Please enjoy the fun times we had during this urban engagement session!
I love it when couples show their off-beat silly side. It makes for images that are specific and unique to who they really are. It was a joy photographing these two, and their wedding was even more spectacular. Spoiler: There was a bouncy house, a lobster food truck, and the best cake-cutting in the history of our studio!
